Wow, what a journey this has been! Choosing to amputate was definitely the right decision. Gracie is doing SO fantastic as a tripawd and quite honestly, I’ve not seen her this happy in about a year. Although we can’t hike like we used to, we still get out and enjoy the great outdoors and take short hops (or canters as I call the tripawd gate) around new and old haunts.
Tomorrow she has her 4th and second to last chemo treatment and an x-ray to see how things look in her chest. Praying for good news!
Most importantly, I gotta say that going through all this together- the surgery, the recovery, the “get used to our new way of life” and the chemo treatments have bonded us even more than ever. The stronger trust and love we have for one another now is one of the bright sides that has come out of our tough times. 🙂
